Emma has been working as a professional photographer for over fifteen years and her heartfelt portraiture style has won her several awards, along with a collection of national press features. Hailing from the UK, she moved to South Africa in 2009 and has rapidly become one of the country’s most sought after dog photographers and business mentors.
Working internationally from her base in Johannesburg, Emma caters for private and commercial commissions of the dog and human variety both on location and in studio. Her work regularly features on the covers of Canine Zone and Pet Prints magazines, and she’s photographed the annual Sandton SPCA calendar since 2012, a project that had raised over R1 million to date. Emma’s commercial clients include Land Rover South Africa, Royal Canin, Pick N Pay and Friendship Collar.
Emma is a Nikon South Africa School Trainer and regularly runs photography and business workshops for them in both Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Emma’s first book, Mutts, was published in 2017 and features a collection of rescue dog portraits and their inspirational adoption stories. Mutts is available to buy online here, in South African bookstores nationwide and on Amazon.co.uk. Sales proceeds from the book are bring split between CLAW (Community Led Animal Welfare) and Sandton SPCA.
Features on national news sites Kyknet and Beautiful News SA have highlighted Emma’s pioneering sprit and passion for assisting shelter dogs. She was the first photographer in South Africa to donate her time to create professional portraits of unwanted dogs sitting in shelters, and her work has helped to find hundreds of animals their forever homes.
