Black and White
Important: Please read the rules and entry requirements, entries not abiding by them will be disqualified.
Black and white photography can evoke a mood – from nostalgia to sadness to yearning, black and white pictures somehow convey emotion in a way that colour images simply can’t. Not everything is Black & White but sometimes it can be just what is needed.
When I shoot black and white weddings and lifestyle shoots I set my camera to monochrome so that I see in black and white when I capture the image to remove everything except the moment.
One of the prizes this month is a workshop at the Alternative print Workshop run by Dennis Da Silva.
The Alternative Print Workshop offers an educational and working environment where artists can learn, create and be inspired! A wide variety of workshops in Black and White darkroom and historical photographic processes are offered, as well as workshops with renowned artists and craft workshops such as Bookbinding, Printmaking and Marbling.
The prize:
The best image will win a workshop at the Alternative print Workshop run by Dennis Da Silva in Johannesburg, and a Canon Powershot Zoom from Canon South Africa.
I would also like to organise a Hunters of Light workshop at the Alternative print Workshop in Johannesburg. It would be great to meet some of you in person after 2 years of “online-ing”.

I can’t wait to see what images are uploaded for the competition.
